NIS2 in Sweden: what the law asks of you
NIS2 is in force in Sweden as the Cybersecurity Act. This overview explains what changes, who it reaches and how to read the rest of this guide.
Are you in scope? Sectors, size and the essential or important split
Scope depends on your sector, your size and in some cases your role in society. Getting this right decides everything else.
Management accountability: what the board must approve and sign
Management must approve the cybersecurity risk measures, oversee their implementation and take part in training.
Risk management measures under Article 21
Article 21 lists the minimum measures every entity in scope must have, from risk analysis to encryption and access control.
Incident reporting: the 24-hour, 72-hour and one-month clock
Significant incidents must be reported in stages: an early warning within 24 hours, a notification within 72 hours and a final report within a month.
Supply chain security and supplier requirements
You are expected to manage the security risks that come from your suppliers and service providers.
Registration and working with your supervisory authority
Entities in scope must register with the authority for their sector and keep their details up to date.
Policies and documentation that count as evidence
A supervisor will look for documents that show the measures exist and are followed, not only that they are written down.
Training, awareness and role-based skills
Staff and management need training that fits their role, from basic cyber hygiene to incident decisions.
Sanctions, fines and personal liability
The Act gives supervisors the power to order corrections, impose fines and in serious cases hold management responsible.
