Entities in scope must register with the authority for their sector and keep their details up to date. Supervision is split by sector, so the authority you deal with depends on what you do. Registration details include contact points and the services you provide.

Why it matters

For NIS2, supervision is rarely a purely technical question. It touches ownership, budget and how quickly decisions can be made when something goes wrong. Teams that agree on these points in advance spend less time debating them under pressure.

What to check

  • Identify your supervisory authority
  • Register and keep the contact details current
  • Prepare a short pack describing your security set-up

Where to start

A supervisor visit goes more smoothly when one person owns the relationship and knows where the evidence is. Write down what you decide, who owns it and when it will be reviewed. That record is often the evidence a reviewer asks for later.
